PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Three Providence men are charged with kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman multiple times, while capturing it on videotape.
On Wednesday, Gregorio Cruz, 18, of Providence pleaded not guilty to a laundry list of charges.
Police say that on January 2, Richard Lara, 20, Gregorio Cruz, and Julian Balbi, 20, kidnapped a woman who was out at a bar in downtown Providence.
Investigators say the men brought the woman back to an apartment in Providence where they sexually assaulted her several times.
Lara and Cruz are accused of videotaping the sexual assaults without the woman’s consent.
Police say the woman was eventually taken back to her car. She reportedly went straight to the Providence Public Safety Complex. Officials say when the victim was outside the police station, she saw the men’s car being pulled over.
Officers say she ran over to the state trooper who pulled them over and told the officer the men inside the car raped her.
Lara and Cruz have both been arrested. Cruz is being held without bail. He’s is expected back in court August 2.
Balbi is expected in court May 14.
