PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) –The Board of Licenses has decided to temporarily close Karma, following a shooting early Saturday morning.

The decision comes just hours after two people were rushed to the hospital around 2:30 a.m.

Police tell Eyewitness News two men were admitted to the hospital with gunshot wounds. They are listed in serious but stable condition and their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening;  one was shot in the back and the other was shot in the groin, according to police. Investigators say the shooting happened inside the club. Both victims are from Massachusetts and are members of the Walk Hill Bloods gang, both with lengthy criminal records.

Investigators still don’t have any suspects, or a motive. The number of unanswered questions, plus concern for retaliation, is what ultimately led to the board’s decision. A full hearing has been scheduled for Monday.

The only arrest made so far was for disorderly conduct outside the club.
