PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – A house fire on Rosedale Street in Providence displaced 13 people Saturday morning.

The fire broke out at about 9:30 a.m. at 45 Rosedale Street and quickly spread to the upper floors of the three-story building. Firefighters nearby on Cranston Street noticed the smoke and investigated, and found heavy fire on the second and third floor at the front of the building when they arrived.

Fire officials at the scene said everyone got out safely on their own, and the Red Cross responded to assist the people who lived there, including at least one child.

The firefighters’ work was complicated by the freezing temperatures and the proximity of power lines to the front of the home.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause of the fire.
