PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are on the hunt for suspects in the capital city’s third homicide of 2014.
Police said George Holland, 17, was found inside a Colfax Street residence just before 9 p.m. Tuesday, lying on the floor suffering from a gunshot wound. Holland was transported to Rhode Island Hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
The victim did not live at the house where the shooting occurred. Police say it was not a random shooting.
Holland was the oldest of ten children. His family said he loved football and was looking forward to prom and his high school graduation.
“It’s just heartbreaking to have to wake up this morning and know he’s never coming back through my doors again,” his aunt Leah Seton told Eyewitness News.
The teen’s father George Holland Sr. was stabbed to death in 2009 – by his mother Shanna Rufo.
Police believe the suspected shooter shot through a window from outside the house. No suspect descriptions have yet been released.
