RIPTA: 18 routes detoured due to snow

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – The Rhode Island Public Transit Authority (RIPTA) announced changes to its daily routes early Wednesday morning, as heavy snow continues falling across the state.

RIPTA, stressing its commitment to customers’ and employees’ safety, said passengers should anticipate delays on all routes. The following routes, RIPTA said, will be on detour “until further notice:”

  • URI Hill Climber: All service canceled
  • Route 3: Service to Public Street suspended; buses to remain on Allens Avenue
  • Route 14: Buses will not enter the Rte. 1A and Rte. 138 Park-n-Ride lot
  • Route 18: Service to Union Avenue Hill suspended
  • Route 21: Services to Chapel View and CCRI campus suspended
  • Route 27: Service to Hillcrest Apartments suspended
  • Route 29: Service to CCRI suspended
  • Route 49: Service to Miriam Hospital suspended
  • Route 52: Service to Metcalf Court suspended
  • Route 54: RIPTA vehicles will not ravel on 146 North; service will use Rte. 246 to Rte. 116
  • Route 55: Service to Fatima Hospital suspended; service will terminate at Shaw’s Plaza
  • Route 56: Service to Stop & Shop and VA Hospital suspended
  • Route 58: Service to Esmond Village suspended
  • Route 60: Regular service reinstated
  • Route 63: Service to West House and on Hillside Avenue from Beacon Street to Maple Street suspended
  • Route 64: Service to Bridgetown Road and into Rte. 138 and 1A Park-N-Ride lot suspended
  • Route 66: Service to CCRI Campus suspended
  • Route 78: Service to Rumford Towers suspended
  • Route 87: Service to Morin Heights and Fairmount suspended

In addition to those 14 routes, all Ride Program services – except Americans with Disabilities Act and other vital medical trips – have been suspended.
