Suspects in Hernandez case: Where do they stand?

(WPRI) – It’s been nearly eight months since Odin Lloyd was shot to death in an industrial park in North Attleboro. Besides ex-Patriot Aaron Hernandez, four other people are facing charges in connection with the crime.

Carlos Ortiz and Ernest Wallace are both accused of being in the car with Hernandez the night that Lloyd was killed. Both have pleaded not guilty to accessory to murder after the fact.

According to court documents filed last week, the prosecution likely will not call Ortiz to the stand in the Hernandez case, because prosecutors say he would be an unreliable witness.

As for Ernest Wallace, prosecutors say he was Hernandez’s ‘right hand man’ who fled to Florida shortly after Lloyd’s death.

Both men are being held on $500,000 bail.

Hernandez’s cousin Tanya Singleton is accused of helping Wallace. She was released on bail last week and on Friday, the judge granted a motion to redact Singleton’s address from court documents.

Her attorney cited privacy and security concerns.

Hernandez’s long-time girlfriend Shayanna Jenkins is facing one count of perjury. She’s accused of lying to a grand jury about getting rid of evidence for Hernandez.

Jenkins was released on personal recognizance.
