Flames break out at NEARI building

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Firefighters were called to the National Education Association of Rhode Island building in Cranston late Friday night.

Crews responded to the scene on Bald Hill Road around 11:00 p.m, and found smoke coming from the building. Officials say they discovered a fire in a salon that is housed in the building, and were able to quickly put the flames out.

The salon was closed at the time, and no firefighters were injured. However, Eyewitness News is told the business suffered significant damage.

The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation.
