State gets shipments of salt Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – State officials say badly-needed shipments of road salt have arrived in Rhode Island, a day before another round of snow is due to arrive.

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation reports that several salt shipments arrived through the state’s supplier, International Salt, after being dispatched from stockpiles in New Haven, Connecticut. The shipments are not enough to bring the state’s supply back up to normal levels, and officials still urge Rhode Islanders to be careful on area roads.

A larger salt shipment is sue to arrive on March 6th.
