PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A Providence man was ordered to remove more than eight hundred tires that were illegally dumped across the city, after police say they caught him in the act.
Providence Police allege David Almeida was running a makeshift business in which he offered to remove tires from garages and repair shops for one dollar each, then dumped the tires in vacant lots, on school grounds, and even outside his own home on Pomona Avenue.
Almeida was given two citations for illegal dumping, and has been ordered to remove the tires.
Police say Almeida is cooperating with the clean-up.
The businesses that paid Almeida to haul away their tires could be brought before the Providence Board of Licenses for failing to use a licensed removal service.
