Rhode Island Air National Guardsmen returning home

QUONSET, R.I. (WPRI) – Dozens of Rhode Island Air National Guardsmen are coming home this week.

About 130 members of the 143rd Airlift Wing will return to the Quonset Air National Guard Base in North Kingstown on Thursday and Friday.

The airmen have been serving in Southwest Asia in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

“Our Team is responsible for another successful deployment supporting our military efforts overseas. We have the best and most highly trained Airmen on earth,” said Colonel Arthur Floru, 143d AW Wing Commander. “We are extremely proud and thrilled to welcome our Team home to their families after answering our nation’s call.”

While overseas, the airmen supported the air mobility operations of rapid, global mobility and sustainment of the combat capability of America’s armed forces.
