National Grid warning customers of scheme

(WPRI) — National Grid is warning its customers of imposters who could be targeting them.

The company tells Eyewitness News over the past year, imposters have been targeting customers, demanding they make immediate payments on electric bill balances or their service will be shut off.

National Grid says it never demands a direct payment over the phone.

If a caller asks for your credit card or bank info, hang up immediately. If you have any further information or questions, call the company directly.
