PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – Paolino Properties has purchased the historic property at 275 Westminster Street, also known as the Cherry & Webb building.
The building was formerly owned by Belvoir Properties and houses tenants such as WLWC, the local CW-TV affiliate that covers Providence-New Bedford.
One entrance to the tri-store bridge includes an elevated walkway which helped shoppers pass between Cherry & Webb, Gladdings, and Shepard department stores. The building also formerly housed WPRI-TV, which was then WPRO-TV, during its debut in 1955.
“We are excited about the acquisition of this building and happy to continue expansion of our properties along Westminster Street,” said Joseph R. Paolino, Jr. “The Cherry & Webb building has long been a part of Rhode Island’s collective memory, many have visited and shopped there over the years.”
The Rhode Island Disability Law Center, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and Broadview Networks, Inc. are also housed inside the building.
