Police seize guns, drugs in Charlestown arrest

CHARLESTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — An investigation into a suspected drug dealer led police to make an arrest and seize drugs and firearms Thursday.

Weapons, Drugs, CashMembers of the Charlestown and Westerly Police Departments responded to 160 Old Shannock Road in Charlestown looking for William E. Lamphere, 25, formerly of Pierce Street in Westerly. Police said they had an outstanding warrant for his arrest on three counts of delivery of a controlled substance – cocaine.

Officers took Lamphere into custody, and seized crack cocaine, cash, knives, and two firearms with assorted ammunition.

Lamphere was turned over to Westerly police and held overnight at their station. He’s scheduled to be arraigned in Washington County District Court Thursday on additional charges of possession of crack cocaine with intent to deliver.
