Tyler Seddon turns seven years old on March 6 and it’s going to be a spectacular celebration.
Tyler is currently fighting his second fight against acute lymphoblastic leukemia. First diagnosed in 2010, Tyler won the first bout when his cancer went into remission in July 2012, but his mother said it came back last November. Now, Tyler’s mother says she is searching for matching donors for bone marrow transplants that doctors say Tyler will need over the course of his treatment.
In the meantime, though, Tyler has a birthday to celebrate.
Tyler loves police officers and firefighters so his mother reached out to first responders to send cards to her son, but what Tyler received was much more.
Departments from across the country have come together to make his big day even brighter. In addition to sending hundreds of cards, a huge group of first responders have planned an elaborate birthday celebration for Tyler.
When Tyler wakes up Thursday morning, he will be greeted by a member of the Burrillville Police Department; then, he’ll embark on a birthday adventure that will include at least 185 police vehicles, 12 police motorcycles, 30 pieces of fire apparatus and – of course – hundreds of first responders from as far away as California cheering him on.
In addition, Police stations across the country have posted YouTube videos to wish him a happy birthday, and a fundraising website in Tyler’s name has raised more than $16,000 since it launched in November.
If you could have your greatest birthday wish granted, what would you ask for?
