EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – This week on the first half of Newsmakers: Rhode Island Department of Transportation Director Mike Lewis. After a successful weekend of construction on route 95 which ended ahead of schedule, Lewis provides an update on the massive viaduct project; a bridge replacement job cutting through downtown Providence. Lewis also reacts to a bill that would eliminate tolling on the Sakonnet bridge.
On the second half Common Cause Rhode Island Executive Director John Marion and Providence Journal columnist Ed Fitzpatrick join Tim White and Ted Nesi to talk about the state of government transparency at the start of Sunshine Week. From government emails still under wraps to 911 calls, the roundtable talks about where the state has come and where it could make improvements.
