Crews battle Woonsocket house fire

WOONSOCKET, R.I. (WPRI) – Fire crews were busy Saturday afternoon battling a multi-alarm fire in Woonsocket.

The fire started at 26 Monty Avenue at about 1:30p.m., and crews reported a partial collapse of the upper floor of the building. The fire chief tells Eyewitness News two firefighters fell through the second floor, but thankfully, did not suffer major injuries. Heavy winds made crews’ work harder, as the fire extended to the attic.

Two people were transported to Rhode Island Hospital as a precaution. Right now, it’s unclear how many people live in the house or if anyone was inside the building at the time.
