PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A homeless man charged in a decades-old murder pleaded not guilty in Providence Superior Court Wednesday.
Providence Police say Daniel Serrano turned himself in last December and confessed to killing 32-year-old Matt Holliday on Somerset Street back in 1990. The case had gone unsolved for more than 23 years.

In February, Serrano was indicted on one count of first-degree murder.
Serrano said little during his arraignment Wednesday. The attorney representing Serrano entered a not guilty plea on his behalf. The entire hearing lasted just one minute.
The judge ordered Serrano to remain held without bail.
Serrano is due back in court for a pre-trial hearing on June 19.
