PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) –A man was hospitalized after being stabbed early Sunday morning in Providence.
Providence police told Eyewitness News that the victim, a 51 year-old man, called police at about 1 a.m. and said he had been stabbed.
The man suffered non life-threatening wounds to the thigh and the side of his torso, police said.
He told officers that he had been sitting in his car in the parking lot of the 7-11 at the intersection of Chalkstone Avenue and Smith Street when another man approached and punched him through the open window of the car. The victim got out and gave chase, and at some point was stabbed by the attacker.
The victim did not give detectives a description of the attacker. So far no one has been arrested and the incident remains under investigation.
