FOXBORO, Mass. (WPRI) – Two Foxboro men are recovering after falling through the ice on Sunday while fishing.
The men were ice fishing on the Neponset Reservoir when the ice gave way from under them.
A woman who was with the pair tried to reach them with a tree limb but also fell into the water. She managed to pull herself out.
After about 10-15 minutes, firefighters arrived and pulled the two men to safety.
People living nearby said it’s too late in the season to safely ice fish on the reservoir. “The last time I saw anybody out here was two or three weeks ago and that was the last time…but this time of the year is the wrong time of the year to be out here,” said Charlie Elliot of Foxboro.
Both were taken to hospitals, but are expected to be okay.
