Construction begins to reopen Fall River restaurant

FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — After a devastating fire destroyed it last year, construction is now underway to rebuild Sagres.

The popular Portuguese restaurant was torn down after an electrical fire in a second floor apartment above Sagres severely damaged the upper floors.

The night of the fire, Miron Faria, a Sagres employee, went into the burning building and saved two children and their parents before firefighters arrived.

The restaurant owners tell the Fall River Herald they hope to be finished with construction by July.
