MEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) — Two men are facing drug trafficking charges after police found them with 2 kilograms of cocaine hidden in the bottom of a child car seat.
A Massachusetts state trooper pulled over a Honda Accord in Medford Saturday night about 5:45 for some motor vehicle violations, as the car went from Route 28 northbound in Medford to Route 16 eastbound in Everett.
There was no child in the car, but the officers got suspicious of a child car seat during their investigation and search of the car. The 2 kilograms of the drug was hidden inside. Officers took the driver, Royer Vasquez Delrosario, 24, of New Jersey, and the passenger, Victor Nicolas Soto Sanchez, 29, of New York, to the State Police Barracks.
Delrosario is charged with trafficking in cocaine, over two thousand grams; sending or reading electronic messages; a marked lanes violation; and failure to signal.
Sanchez was charged with trafficking in cocaine, over two thousand grams; and failure to wear a seat belt.
One kilogram weighs as much as a large hardback dictionary.
