PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) – A man who was allegedly attacked through a car window and stabbed near a Providence 7-Eleven, told police he was there for a drug deal.

Police responded to the 7-Eleven parking lot on Smith Street early Sunday morning and found Daniel Carr, 51, with multiple stab wounds to his ribs and thigh.

The victim told police he was sitting in the store’s parking lot waiting to buy narcotics when a man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt approached the car and punched him in the head through the open window.  He then tried to flee, and ran through the parking lot as three men chased him down Chalkstone Avenue and onto Violet Street, according to a police report.

The suspects caught Carr and stabbed him numerous times before they took off, he told police.

The driver of the car that was waiting in the 7-Eleven parking lot told police she didn’t know the victim and was simply giving him a ride.

The victim did not give detectives a description of the attackers and police are continuing to search for suspects.
