WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — The Station Nightclub Memorial Foundation met tonight to discuss where their development stands now.
Only a month after the 11th anniversary of the Station Nightclub fire, planners hope construction on the permanent memorial begins within the next few months.
“We are in full swing working with our construction team”, said survivor and memorial organizer Gina Russo. “We have a meeting with them in the next week or two. We’re waiting from final approval from DEM and DOT, and then we’ll go to the town of West Warwick and get their final approval.”
Russo also told Eyewitness News that architects and landscapers have been volunteering their time on this project for the last eight years.
