PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) – A Pawtucket teacher is facing an assault charge after a parent said the teacher physically assaulted her son. And – according to court documents – the prosecution is saying the incident may have been sparked by a snack.
Richard Koster, 49, of Cranston, turned himself in to police Thursday morning after he learned a warrant had been issued for his arrest. Koster is accused of lifting a student off the floor, pinning him against the wall and yelling at him.
The prosecution claims Koster took those actions because one of his students brought a cookie into his classroom.
Eyewitness News attempted to contact Koster for comment, but there was no answer at his home and his attorney has yet to return our calls.
It’s not clear at this time if he’ll face any disciplinary action.
