BOSTON (WPRI) – Jerry Remy does not plan to step down from his job as color analyst for NESN’s Red Sox broadcasts.

The former second baseman and Red Sox color commentator told the Dennis and Callahan Show on Friday morning that he intends to be in Baltimore for opening day.

Last August, Remy took a leave of absence after his son Jared Remy was charged with the murder of his girlfriend Jennifer Martel.

In January, Remy said he was concerned with what the public would think of him and his family. He said his friends persuaded him to return to work, and his family reminded him about his career “and where it came from and where it is.”

Remy said he will not speak about his son during his first broadcast.
