Middletown residents urged to test water

MIDDLETWON, R.I. (WPRI) — The Rhode Island Department of Health is urging some Middletown residents on well water to have their drinking water tested following test results released on Friday.

The report states that a water sample taken from a residential well on Wapping Road in Middletown tested high for levels of nitrates. While there have been no reported cases of illness resulting from the high nitrate levels, the health risks are higher for infants under six months of age.

The RIDOH says residential wells should be tested annually.
