Dog left chained to guardrail in Barrington park

BARRINGTON, R.I. (WPRI) — Police are searching for the owner of a white Husky mix who was found chained to a guardrail in Haines Park on Sunday night.

A woman called Barrington police and reported the dog was found with a plastic bag tied to its collar stating that the unidentified owner ‘could not keep the dog’ and that it was not good with little children.

Police said the animal appeared to be in good condition, and brought it back to the station for food and water before being transported to the shelter in East Providence.

Barrington Police Chief John LaCross said the department is looking for information about the owner, who may face animal cruelty charges.

Anyone with information can call the department’s confidential tip line at (401) 437-3933.
