FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — Fall River Police are looking for a man suspected of shooting his neighbor while the neighbor was trying to defuse a domestic dispute.
Police were called to a home on Orange Street last Wednesday shortly before 1 p.m. for a report of a disturbance and a gunshot.
Eyewitnesses said a domestic argument had broken out between people in a second floor apartment. The dispute had spilled out into the hallway, and neighbors tried to intervene. Instead, the people arguing went back into the apartment.
One neighbor, a 20-year-old male, knocked on the door to see if everything was okay; but a man inside, 29-year-old Guillermo Santana, started fighting with him. Neighbors told police that during that altercation, a shot was fired.
The 20-year-old male was treated at St. Luke’s Hospital for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the arm.
Police are now looking for Santana. They are charging him with armed assault to murder.
Santana is considered to be armed and dangerous. If you have any information on him or the investigation, call Fall River Police at (508) 676-8511.
