PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Police have identified a suspect in the theft of an ambulance, and are now looking for him.
Michael Maynard, 18, of Pawtucket, has been identified as the man in photos captured March 28 on a dashboard camera in the ambulance. Police now have a warrant for Maynard’s arrest.
MedTech Ambulance had reported the rescue vehicle stolen about 4:45 a.m. last Friday. The company tracked down the ambulance on Carter Avenue in Pawtucket thanks to a GPS tracking device installed in the vehicle.
Pawtucket Police Maj. Arthur Martins said whoever was driving the vehicle crashed into a fence and a pole, then abandoned it.

Back in 2012, MedTech had an ambulance stolen from a facility of theirs in Providence. 26-year-old Troy Cable of Providence was accused of taking the rescue vehicle on Saturday, May 19, driving it up Rt. 146 to North Smithfield, and crashing into a center median guardrail. His charges included possession of a stolen motor vehicle and driving under the influence.
