Major pet food distributor moving to RI

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Pet Food Exports, Incorporated is moving its corporate headquarters to Pawtucket.

The company will purchase a building at 175 Main Street. Pet Food Exports, Inc. owns Rumford Pet Center and supplies food to more than 3,000 retailers in 22 states.

The move will bring 70 immediate jobs to the city.

Mayor Donald Grebian says the finishing touches on a $2.2 million contract are being finalize to bring the headquarters of Pet Food Experts to downtown Pawtucket.

They’re really high quality healthy food products that they provide for animals. It’s very intriguing. You know we talk about health, and it’s healthy eating for the animals that we love,” he said.

The building currently houses the Blackstone Valley Visitor Center and Blackstone Valley Tourism Council, which will continue operations there.
