PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Four people are facing firearms violations after police in Providence seized three guns this past Wednesday.
Police said the first occurred at about 12:30 a.m. when Patrolman Eric Chabot made a traffic stop after witnessing a car turn from Douglas Avenue on to Admiral Street without a turn signal. During the stop, Chabot seized a black Taurus 9mm handgun, a Glock .40-caliber magazine containing eight rounds, and a plastic bag with ten live 380mm rounds inside.
Sarunn Phan, 26, was arrested and charged with firearms violations, according to police.
As part of an ongoing narcotics investigation, Providence Police Narcotics and Organized Crime officers and Patucket NOC officers conducted a search of 560 Prospect Street Apt. 334 on Wednesday. Police said a loaded Taurus PT 940 .40-caliber handgun was seized, and Jose Luis Jourdan Pastor, 39, and Carlos Irurita Olivedo, 33, were arrested and charged with firearms violations.
Also on Wednesday, Providence Police Violent Crime Task Force Sgt. Curt Desautels and Officer Matthew McGloin seized an America .38 revolver with five live rounds while on patrol on Camp Street. A 16-year-0ld male was arrested and charged with firearms violations as a result, police said.
