An annual 5K being held this weekend will not only get Rhode Islanders moving, but it will help local families struggling with ALS.
Dr. Judy Pratt and Nancy Feroldi, Executive Director of The Rhode Island ALS Association , joined the Rhode Show to talk about the upcoming event.
The Scott Carlson Memorial 5K is taking place Saturday at 10 a.m. at Goddard Memorial State Park in Warwick. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m., while the kids fun run takes place on the beach at 9:15 a.m.
All proceeds from the race stay in Rhode Island and benefit local families struggling with ALS. The race was inpired by Scott, who was a triathlete, and he designed this race along with his wife Hillary to raise funds and awareness for this horrible disease.
