Roger Williams Park Zoo is preparing to kick off a week-long conservation event with green-themed activities for the whole family.
Dr. Jeremy Goodman, Executive Director, joined the Rhode Show Friday to talk about this year’s Party for the Planet event. This year’s theme is sustainability, and the goal of the theme is to help visitors find useful and doable steps to reduce their carbon footprint and live more environmentally friendly.
The event is scheduled from April 21-25 and activities run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day and are free with zoo admission.
The week culminates on Friday with an environmental fair with displays, activities, and giveaways from organizations across the state. A host of activities, performances, and demonstrations from earlier in the week will be back to add to the fun.
Other upcoming zoo events:
- Animal encounters have started again with harbor seal feedings on the weekends, and giraffe feedings will start in May. This year we are offering online ticket purchase for the first time for these special encounters.
- Mom’s Day Weekend: On May 10 and 11, moms get free Zoo admission when accompanied by a paying child. There is also a special Ice Cream Sundae event from 11am to 4pm on May 11 that is $7 per participant.
