FALL RIVER, Mass. (WPRI) — A man found guilty of stabbing another man to death outside a Fairhaven VFW hall in 2008 has been sentenced to a lifetime behind bars.
A judge sentenced Brandon Callender, 24, to life in prison on a charge of second-degree murder, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s office.
Callender was convicted on April 4 of stabbing 30-year-old Joshua Fitzgerald to death during a fight exactly six years to the day prior.
He was also sentenced to serve 5-8 years following the life sentence for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in the non-fatal stabbing of the victim’s brother during the same incident.
The DA’s office said Callender is eligible for parole after 15 years.
