FREETOWN, Mass. (WPRI) — Security at the Stop & Shop distribution center in Freetown made an interesting discovery inside a delivery truck Friday, and needless to say the product didn’t make it to the produce aisle.
According to Freetown police, employees found 30 to 40 pounds of marijuana in the back of an 18-wheeler at the South Main Street facility.
Police said the drugs were found in a shipment of vegetables from a California supplier.
City detectives launched an investigation following the discovery.
Police have seized the marijuana and conducted a full sweep of the facility, but no other contraband was found.
A company spokesperson said Stop & Shop is fully cooperating with authorities in the investigation.
