BOSTON (AP) — A 54-year-old taxi driver was killed in a fiery crash with a tractor-trailer truck that shut down northbound lanes of Interstate 93 and caused a huge traffic tie-up in Boston during the Monday morning commute.
The crash on the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge happened just after 5:30 a.m. Monday and sent flames and smoke into the sky.
State police reconstruction experts are working to determine the cause.
The Suffolk district attorney’s office said the tractor-trailer truck was driven by a 46-year-old man and is registered in Hartford, Connecticut.
Boston fire officials said the truck was carrying produce.
