ATTLEBORO, Mass. (WPRI) — An Attleboro man is facing numerous charges after police said he used an assortment of items to attack another man.
Officers swarmed the 500 block of South Main Street Tuesday night for a reported disturbance at a home there. Police said a 49-year-old man was attacked with a hand saw, a bicycle pump, and other items.
Michael Shireman, 47, lives at the complex where the assault took place and was taken into custody, according to police.
Sherman pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges of armed assault with intent to murder, aggravated assault, and battery by means of a dangerous weapon. His bail was set at $2,500.
Neighbors said Sherman lives with his wife and two children, and were surprised to see police at their home.
The victim was taken to the hospital with a severe cut to the back of his head, which required six staples to close. He’s expected to make a full recovery.
