PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Colleges and universities in the Ocean State are being urged to make their campuses smoke-free.
A symposium set for Monday, co-hosted by the Rhode Island Tobacco Control Program, will bring together both experts and activists.
Advocates say the number of campuses going tobacco-free has grown to nearly 1,200 in recent years. Among those lined up to attend are state health chief Dr. Michael Fine and the dean of Brown University’s medical school.
No Rhode Island colleges or universities currently have any such policies in place.
