Woman killed in Sturbridge crash

STURBRIDGE, Mass. (WPRI) — A woman was killed in a head-on crash in Sturbridge early Sunday morning.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Route 148 near North Drive shortly after midnight. An SUV collided with a sedan. Two people in the SUV suffered minor injuries, but the driver of the smaller call was trapped in her vehicle with serious injuries.

A medical helicopter was called, while firefighters worked to free her from the wreck. By the time the LifeFlight’s medical team arrived, the woman’s condition had rapidly declined. So, the woman was rushed to Harrington Memorial Hospital by ambulance. She later succumbed to her injuries.

The Sturbridge police are investigating the cause of the crash.
