PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — A teenager is now being charged as an adult in the murder of a Pawtucket man last Christmas Eve.
Eyewitness News confirmed with the attorney general’s office that Jose Lopez, 17, was waived out of Family Court Monday, and is now set to face a judge May 19 for a bail hearing.
The victim, 21-year-old Ryan Almeida, was shot at the Galego Court Complex in Pawtucket. He later died from his injuries at the hospital.
Court documents said the teenage suspect told police he drove Daquan Watts, 20, who’s also facing murder charges, and another man to the murder scene, whereupon the two men left the car. Five minutes later, the two men returned, out of breath.
Lopez, Watts and Tyron Wilcox, 21, are all charged with first-degree murder. Lopez is also charged with felony conspiracy.
Police said they identified the suspects thanks to a piece of surveillance video. They have not disclosed a possible motive.
