Bryant lacrosse beats Syracuse, advances in NCAA Tournament

SYRACUSE, NY (WPRI) – The Bryant Bulldogs have advanced to the next round of the NCAA Lacrosse Tournament.

On Sunday, the Bulldogs faced the Syracuse Orange, who knocked them out of the 2013 tournament.

Freshman Tucker James scored 6 points, including a goal with less than 5 minutes to go that gave Bryant a 2 point lead at the time.

After Syracuse scored to cut the deficit, Shane Morrell added a point to again give the Bulldogs a 2 point lead.

Bryant would turn the ball over with less than 30 seconds left and Syracuse would put it in the net with just 7 ticks remaining.

The Orange won the ensuing face-off and tried to score, but Gunner Waldt makes a big save and Bryant holds on to win 10-9.

The Bulldogs will face Hofstra in the next round.
