PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The Providence County Grand Jury issued an indictment Thursday bringing further charges against two men accused of killing a Pawtucket man last Christmas Eve.
Daquan Watts, 20, and Jose Lopez, 17, are now facing charges of discharge of a firearm while committing a crime of violence and carrying a firearm without a license, according to the Rhode Island Attorney General’s office.
Both men were already facing first-degree murder and conspiracy charges in the shooting death of 21-year-old Ryan Almeida. Almeida was shot in Pawtucket on Dec. 24 and later died from his injuries at the hospital.
According to court documents, Lopez admitted to driving Watts and another man to the murder scene. Last week, it was announced he would be tried as an adult in the case.
A third suspect, 21-year-old Tyron Wilcox, was arrested April 11 and also charged with murder and conspiracy.
Watts was arrested in Maine last month and ordered held without bail.
The Attorney General’s office said Watts and Lopez are due back in court May 30.
