PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The suspect in a deadly Providence shooting last December will have to wait a little while longer for arraignment.
Earlier this month, a Providence County grand jury indicted Louis Pina in connection with the shooting of 16-year-old Eric Cuesta.
He was due to be arraigned Thursday. However, the Attorney General’s office confirmed for Eyewitness News the hearing did not happen because Pina was left off the court transport list in error. The proceeding is now scheduled to take place May 28.
Pina is facing one count of murder; one count of assault with a dangerous weapon; two counts of discharging a firearm while committing a crime of violence; and one count of possession of a firearm without a license in connection with the December 4, 2013 shooting.
Police said Cuesta and a juvenile were sitting in a car on Adelaide Avenue in Providence when they were fired upon. Cuesta was killed. The other juvenile was not struck.
Pina is also charged with vandalizing a cell block at the Providence Police Department.
