Some local bakeries are gearing up for a great event for an important cause. If you’ve got a sweet tooth, you won’t want to miss “Bakes for Breast Cancer,” happening this week.
Peter Carvalhal, owner and general manager of D’ Vine On The Hill, joined The Rhode Show to talk more about the event.
From Mother’s Day, May 11 through Saturday, May 17, establishments in the Ocean State will participate in Rhode Island Bakes for Breast Cancer. More than two dozen restaurants, supermarkets, bakeries, and cafés throughout Rhode Island will participate in the inaugural event.
Participating establishments will designate all sales of one dessert on their menu and the proceeds will support breast cancer research and care at the Susan F. Smith Center for Women’s Cancers at Dana-Farber, and Bakes for Breast Cancer, Inc.
Funds raised from Rhode Island Bakes will help conduct basic research, translational research, and clinical trials with the hope of eliminating all deaths from breast cancer, and, ultimately, eradicating the disease entirely.
