BROCKTON, Mass. (WPRI) — Three children waiting for their school bus were struck by a car in a hit-and-run Thursday morning in Brockton.
According to police, the incident happened at 8:08 a.m at Warren and Myrtle Avenues.
Authorities said the bus was in the process of stopping when the students crossed the street. A red car with New Jersey license plates was coming the opposite way when it struck the three children.
Police said the car stopped briefly, but then fled. Brockton police said it appears the driver was trying to avoid the stop sign that had just been deployed on the side of the bus.
After searching for close to an hour, Brockton police arrested and charged Yainira Boria, 38.
All three victims were taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.
