Cranston police cracking down on drunk driving

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) – Cranston police are beefing up patrols this weekend in an effort to crack down on drunk driving.

The Cranston Police Department is adding extra staff from Friday through Sunday.

The department is teaming up with police officers and troopers assigned to the Southern Rhode Island DUI Task Force.

More than 35 officers and troopers will be on patrol in ten communities.

Police say if you are going to drink, designate a sober driver, take a taxi or stay at a friend’s home.
