PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — An Associated Press analysis of campaign finance reports filed by former House Speaker Gordon Fox show a number of checks unaccounted for, including a peak of 23 missing last year.
The FBI, IRS and State Police raided Fox’s home and Statehouse office in March and have not said what they’re looking for.
When asked this week, Fox said he doesn’t know anything about missing checks.
The AP looked for gaps in check numbers for expenditures back to April 1, 2008, the earliest date check numbers are available.
Ninety checks were unaccounted for through March 31, with half missing in 2012 and 2013. The rate dropped off this year. In the quarter ended March 31, 10 days after the raid, just one check was unaccounted for.
