NORTH KINGSTOWN, R.I. (WPRI) — Thousands were disappointed last year when federal budget cuts, the “sequester” that took effect automatically, forced the cancellation of the Rhode Island National Guard Open House and Airshow.
But this weekend, the show returned.
“Everybody’s enthused — and psyched to do the show this year,” said organizer Col. Robert Germani (Ret.).
Acts that took place this air this weekend include an F-22 Raptor, stunt pilots Sean Tucker and John Klatt, and the infamous Blue Angels.
“The performers wanted to come back to Rhode Island. So, that’s why we’ll have a great show this year,” said Col. Germani.
Fifty to sixty thousand people were expected over the weekend, but organizers tell Eyewitness News between eighty and ninety thousand flooded Quonset.
