NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (WPRI) – Students who attend public school in New Bedford will be able to get free meals next year.
The New Bedford School District has been selected to take part in a new federal program designed to serve healthier meals with no cost to families.
Massachusetts was one of 10 states to pilot the program last year.
Rhode Island education officials say several school districts in the state would qualify for the new program, but none have implemented it so far.
