PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — The deputy director of Rhode Island Housing who was fired in December has been reinstated to the position.

The agency said Thursday that a wrongful termination lawsuit Gayle Corrigan filed in federal court back in January has been settled without any further court involvement.

Corrigan claimed she was wrongfully fired after she uncovered financial irregularities with federal funds at the Urban League of Rhode Island and pushed for an investigation.

RI Housing issued a statement soon after, dismissing the lawsuit as baseless.

The agency said Corrigan will resume her duties and receive the same $157,500 salary she had prior to termination.

Gov. Lincoln Chafee supported the reinstatement, saying in a statement he’s “glad the matter has been settled” and that he thinks highly of Corrigan.
